Mình không rõ đây có phải là đạo kịch bản hay không, vì cấu trúc câu chuyện, hệ thống nhân vật và thậm chí là cả cái kết trong phim giống y chang phim Chuyện tình Carol (2015). Nhưng bỏ qua vấn đề đó thì phim vẫn có rất nhiều vấn đề nhỏ, khiến nó chả khác gì một bản làm lại của Chuyện tình Carol nhưng là với chất lượng thấp hơn một chút:
+ Lời thoại đóng quá nhiều. Lời thoại đóng là lời thoại dùng để dẫn đến một trạng thái gây khó xử, bế tắc giữa 2 nhân vật hoặc dùng để kết thúc một cuộc hội thoại quyết liệt và gây ra hậu quả đáng sợ cho mối quan hệ của các nhân vật. Nhưng ở trong phim này, lời thoại đóng bị lạm dụng quá mức, khiến cho hội thoại của các nhân vật rất khó hiểu và kỳ quặc(ít nhất là với mình), không phù hợp với các tiêu chuẩn xã giao thông thường khiến người xem khó đồng cảm.
+ Diễn biến tâm lý có vẻ đúng với tính cách nhân vật, nhưng lại kém thú vị. Một ví dụ đơn giản đó là khoảnh khắc Charlotte xách xô than vào nhà rồi bật cười. Đồng ý rằng với tính cách của Mary, rất dễ hiểu nếu cô im lặng nhìn Charlotte mà ko biểu lộ bất cứ cảm xúc gì, bởi cô vốn là người lạnh lùng. Nhưng liệu điều đó có cần thiết. Nếu Charlotte xách xô than vào-> Mary lạnh lùng nhìn vào mặt Charlotte (đang bị dính than) một lúc->Charlotte nhìn lại với vẻ ngây thơ vô số tội-> Mary bật cười nhẹ -> Charlotte bật cười theo ->Mary cười lớn hơn-> Charlotte cũng cười lớn hơn nhưng dần chuyển sang khóc -> Mary ngạc nhiên rồi ngay lập tức quay trở lại khuôn mặt đúc đá như cũ. Đó sẽ là một diễn biến tâm lý thú vị và đáng để xem hơn. Và điều đó cũng không gây hại gì cho tính cách của Mary, vì bất kỳ ai ở thời điểm đó cũng đều có lý do để bật cười nếu nhìn vào khuôn mặt tiểu thư lấm lem đó. Ngoài ra còn một vài khoảnh khắc tẻ nhạt với diễn biến tâm lý tù túng, khiên cưỡng đến mức khó tả khác như khi Mary ngồi ngoài bãi biển với Roddy Murchison, Mary tại buổi hòa nhạc, nụ hôn đầu của Mary với Charlotte.
+ Mối quan hệ giữa Mary với bà mẹ và mối quan hệ giữa 2 vợ chồng nhà Murchison không được làm rõ nét ở nửa sau của phim. Có lẽ bản thân biên kịch khi tạo ra 2 nhân vật là bà mẹ và ông chồng cũng ý thức được rằng, 2 nhân vật này là người sẽ tạo đà thúc đẩy hoặc cản trở câu chuyện giữa 2 nữ chính. Nhưng không biết vì lý do gì mà biên kịch quyết định để 2 nhân vật này chìm dần khỏi câu chuyện tình giữa 2 người. Một người thì chết trong cau có và một người thì biến mất đi đâu đó.
Tuy nhiên chê thế không có nghĩa là phim dở, chỉ là nó không quá thú vị để xem mà thôi. Điểm cộng của phim:
+ Diễn xuất cực tốt, cái này chắc ko cần nói nhiều. 2 trong số những ngôi sao lớn nhất thuộc 2 thế hệ kế tiếp nhau.
+ Những khoảng lặng ở trong phim cực kỳ tốt và đến đúng lúc cần thiết. Có thể nó đến từ âm thanh và hình ảnh gần bãi biển, một thứ vốn đã rất thư giãn rồi, có thể nó đến từ cái theme của phim, vốn lặng lẽ, u sầu. Sau mỗi cảnh căng thẳng về mặt tâm lý sẽ là một khoảng lặng để người xem kịp thư giãn và cảm nhận.
+ Cảnh s*x ở trong phim cực kỳ cuốn hút. Mình nói điều này dưới góc nhìn nghệ thuật chứ không phải một chuyên gia porno nhé 😇 . Đây có lẽ là yếu tố duy nhất mà phim này vượt qua được Chuyện tình Carol. Cảnh nóng đã cố gắng tránh đi mức độ nhạy cảm về mặt hình ảnh, nhưng vẫn rất táo bạo và chân thực về mặt nội dung. Điều đáng khen nhất là máy quay đã giảm đi rất nhiều động năng (thứ vốn chỉ tốt cho cảnh s*x nam-nữ, dùng để mô tả sức mạnh của phái nam), nhưng để bù lại editor đã cắt cảnh ngắn và đều để giữ nguyên mức độ cuồng nhiệt. Sự thực là không nhiều phim đồng tình nữ có thể nhận ra vấn đề này.

Meghan McCain says she's treated differently

As someone who brings such division to the show, there are consistent rumors floating around that McCain might be leaving the show. On a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, a fan asked McCain if she planned on returning to The View after her child is born.

"Why does everyone ask me if I'm getting fired or quitting every 20 seconds?" McCain asked. "No other host has to deal with this B.S. Yes, I'm coming back, it's an election cycle, like, yes."

She also took to Twitter to condemn people who continually ask about her leaving the show.

"Buncha jacka*ses on social media saying they hope I get fired from The View when I go on maternity leave because it will be a great excuse when I give birth," she wrote before deleting the tweet. "[This] is why the patriarchy is alive [and] strong and why career women continue to put off starting families so long. Such bulls*it."

The View may replace McCain temporarily while she is on maternity leave.

Meghan's time on 'The View'

McCain was only a guest host when she started on the show in 2008. She came back to guest host again in 2010. It wasn't until 2017 that she was brought on full-time. Since coming into her full-time position, she and Joy Behar have constantly been at odds.

But despite her uncomfortable fights with Behar, McCain says the two of them actually get along.

"It really hurts my feelings!" McCain said in an interview of the rumors that she and Behar are always feuding. "It genuinely hurts my feelings because our dressing rooms are next door to each other and you and I have the same emotional reaction to things — sometimes in different ways — but we're both upset equally, the equal amount of the same things. And I wish people would give us a break, for real."

What about the deal talks?

ByteDance has reportedly offered to sell the American operations of TikTok to stop the Trump administration from banning the app outright. Microsoft is one of the companies it has talked to about buying the app, though a deal has not been reached.

ByteDance also previously discussed selling a majority stake of TikTok to American investors, but the Trump administration appears to have rejected that course of action, a person with knowledge of the situation has said.

TikTok has taken steps to paint itself as an American brand. It hired Kevin Mayer, who used to work at Disney, to be its chief executive in May. It has highlighted its prominent American investors. And it says it has hired almost 1,000 employees in the United States, with plans to hire 10,000 more.

In a statement, a TikTok spokeswoman noted that it stores its data in the United States and has "strict controls on employee access" to the information.

What could Mr. Trump do about it?

Mr. Trump has not been clear about how, exactly, he might ban TikTok and what a "ban" really means. On Friday, he said aboard Air Force One that he "can do it with an executive order."

The Trump administration has other options to restrict TikTok's reach. It could try using a law called the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to block some foreign products from American app stores. Or it could put TikTok's owner on a list that prohibits American firms from selling goods to it without a license.

Because TikTok emerged out of ByteDance's 2017 acquisition of a lip-syncing app called Musical.ly, the administration could also effectively order the Chinese firm to spin off TikTok. ByteDance could also agree to sell TikTok voluntarily to avoid being ordered to do so.

This has happened before. Last year, a Chinese company that had bought the gay dating app Grindr agreed to sell it under pressure from the Trump administration.

What is the issue with TikTok?

It all starts with two factors. One is that TikTok is owned by a Chinese internet company, ByteDance. And the second is that China is increasingly in the sights of the Trump administration.

Officials in Washington have become increasingly concerned that the Chinese government could get access to information about Americans who use TikTok because of the app's Chinese ownership. TikTok has repeatedly denied that it is influenced by Beijing.

In any case, the tensions have now boiled over. On Friday night, President Trump said he planned to ban the app, possibly through an executive order. Now, TikTok's owner is said to be trying to address the administration's concerns by pledging to sell the app's U.S. operations.

Trump thanked Putin for expelling hundreds of US diplomats from Russia in August 2017, saying, "I want to thank him because we're trying to cut down our payroll." Trump proposed a cyber unit with Russia

After the July 2017 meeting of G20 leaders, Trump said he had spoken with Putin about "forming an impenetrable Cyber Security unit" to combat "election hacking." Trump quickly backtracked after lawmakers from both parties said it would be ridiculous to work with Russia on cybersecurity because Russia was responsible for egregious hacks against American targets, including during the 2016 election.

Trump was reluctant to sign Russian sanctions

Lawmakers passed a bipartisan bill in July 2017 imposing new sanctions against Russia, even though Trump administration officials reportedly tried to water down the language. Trump reluctantly signed the bill, but claimed the new law contained "clearly unconstitutional provisions." Trump had little choice in the matter because the bill had passed with veto-proof majorities: 419-3 in the House and 98-2 in the Senate. (The Treasury Department followed up with several rounds of hard-hitting sanctions.)

Trump has repeatedly attacked NATO, aligning himself with Putin, who wants to weaken the alliance. Trump said NATO was "obsolete," rattling European leaders. At his first NATO summit in May 2017, Trump scolded other countries for not spending enough on defense and declined to commit to NATO's mutual defense pledge. The Obama administration expelled Russian diplomats and seized the compounds in New York and Maryland after the 2016 election, claiming they were used for "intelligence" purposes. After the 2016 election, the Trump transition team asked Russia not to retaliate too strongly against new US sanctions imposed by then-President Barack Obama. The sanctions were intended to punish Russia for interfering in the election, but then-Trump aide Michael Flynn asked the Russian ambassador not to escalate the situation so they could have a good relationship once Trump took over.

Instead of condemning Russia for hacking and leaking Democratic emails, Trump eagerly capitalized on the Kremlin's meddling, and used the emails to attack Clinton on a near-daily basis in the final stretch of the campaign. The Mueller report said Trump's campaign "expected it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts" and that top officials believed they had inside information about WikiLeaks, so they planned a strategy around the expected release of hacked emails.

Trump aides softened GOP platform on Ukraine

Ahead of the 2016 Republican National Convention, Trump campaign aides blocked language from the party platform that called for the US government to send lethal weapons to Ukraine for its war against Russian proxies. Mueller investigated this for potential collusion but determined the change was not made "at the behest" of Russia. Trump hired Manafort to run his campaign

Trump raised eyebrows in spring 2016 when he hired GOP operative Paul Manafort to run his presidential campaign. Manafort spent a decade working for pro-Russian politicians and parties in Ukraine and cultivated close relationships with Putin-friendly oligarchs. Manafort was sentenced in 2019 to 7.5 years prison for, among other things, evading taxes on the $60 million he had made in Ukraine. (He was released to house arrest in May 2020 amid coronavirus concerns.)

While he was a private citizen, during his 2016 campaign and throughout his presidency, Trump has showered Putin with praise. He said Putin was "so nice," he called Putin a "strong leader" and said Putin has done "a really great job outsmarting our country." Trump also claimed he'd "get along very well" with Putin. Few, if any, Western leaders have echoed these comments.

Donald Trump lashes out at Toomey, Romney after Roger Stone clemency criticism

President Trump late Saturday lashed out at a pair of Republican senators after they criticized his decision to commute the prison sentence of longtime confidant and former campaign adviser Roger Stone.

In a tweet, Trump accused Sens. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) of being "RINOS," a pejorative meaning "Republican in name only."

"Do RINO'S Pat Toomey & Mitt Romney have any problem with the fact that we caught Obama, Biden, & Company illegally spying on my campaign?" Trump asked in a tweet, claiming that an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election included "lying and leaking all the way."

"NO!" he added.

Romney and Toomey are so far the only Republican senators to publicly rebuke Trump's move to commute Stone's sentence. The former Republican operative was due to report to prison on Tuesday to serve a 40-month sentence for crimes uncovered in former special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian interference and Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.

Stone was convicted on seven felony charges, including lying to Congress, witness tampering and obstructing a proceeding.

But on Friday, the White House announced that Trump had granted Stone clemency. Trump, who had previously hinted at intervening in Stone's case, argued after the decision that Stone "was targeted by an illegal Witch Hunt." White House press Kayleigh McEnany also claimed in a statement that Stone was the "victim of the Russia Hoax that the Left and its allies in the media perpetuated for years in an attempt to undermine the Trump Presidency."

The move was roundly denounced by Democrats. Romney, a vocal Trump critic and the only Republican to vote to impeach him earlier this year, also said in a tweet that the move amounted to "unprecedented, historic corruption."

"An American president commutes the sentence of a person convicted by a jury of lying to shield that very president," Romney said.

Toomey called Trump's move a "mistake," noting that Attorney General William Barr had called Stone's prosecution "righteous" and the sentencing "fair." Justice Department leadership in February moved to reduce Stone's initial seven- to ten-year sentencing recommendation.

"The president clearly has the legal and constitutional authority to grant clemency for federal crimes," Toomey said in a statement. "However, this authority should be used judiciously and very rarely by any president."

Stone was one of several Trump associates to be charged in connection to Mueller's investigation. The probe concluded last year that the campaign did not conspire with Russia, noting, however, that it welcomed Moscow's efforts.

In a rare move, Mueller on Saturday publicly defended the integrity of the probe. In a Washington Post op-ed, he said Stone "remains a convicted felon, and rightly so."

He noted that he felt compelled to respond to "both to broad claims that our investigation was illegitimate and our motives were improper, and to specific claims that Roger Stone was a victim of our office."

"Stone was prosecuted and convicted because he committed federal crimes," he said.

Indiana woman shot, killed after argument with Black Lives Matter supporters, family says

The victim, 24-year-old Jessica Doty Whitaker, leaves behind a 3-year-old son.

An Indiana woman was fatally shot earlier this month following an alleged argument between her family and a group of Black Lives Matter supporters, her family says.

The woman, 24-year-old Jessica Doty Whitaker, was walking along Indianapolis Canal Walk with her fiancé, Jose Ramirez, and two other people around 3 a.m. on July 5 when someone in their group used a racial slur, Fox 59 reported.

A group of nearby strangers overheard the comment and confronted Whitaker's group, according to the station.

Ramirez alleged that the group shouted "Black Lives Matter," to which either Whitaker or someone else in their group reportedly responded with, "All Lives Matter."

A brief argument ensued until both sides separated after realizing the other was armed, Fox 59 reported. Ramirez claimed that both sides managed to resolve the argument before separating.

But minutes later, someone reportedly opened fire from a nearby bridge, striking Whitaker, before running away, the station said.

"It was squashed, and they went up the hill and left we thought, but they were sitting on St. Clair waiting for us to come under the bridge and that's when she got shot," Ramirez said.

Ramirez admitted to returning fire but did not hit anyone. He told Fox 59 that he has had to explain what happened to Whitaker's 3-year-old son.

"It's hard to tell him his mom is in heaven and if you want to talk to her you have to look up and say, 'I love you mom,'" Ramirez said.

Police have not independently verified whether the supposed argument over "Black Lives Matter" occurred or if the fatal shooting was even connected.

Fox News has made multiple attempts to reach out to the Indianapolis Metro Police Department seeking comment.

The shooting marks the second homicide in the canal in a week. Police say they will increase patrols there during overnight hours.
